Anthony Cannella is the President of NorthStar Engineering Group, Inc. He oversees all Engineering Services for his projects as well as his employees.

Mr. Cannella’s 30 years of experience includes land development, planning, and design for commercial and residential projects. His extensive experience is showcased in his successful track record of taking a project from its conception to completion. His experience encompasses all aspects of Civil Engineering, specializing in project management and engineering design for large commercial, industrial, and residential projects, land and site development, road alignment and lot configuration, along with integrated utility and grading planning. Mr. Cannella demonstrates his aptitude to interface with Clients and the public through his knowledge and experience in the industry, and with his comprehension of issues involving community and social relationships, citizens, and environmental concerns. He is adept at streamlining processes in the political and public arena, which is evident in his ability to complete projects on time and within budget.

Kent Hysell is a Principal with NorthStar Engineering Group, Inc. and is responsible for making sure proficiency is provided in every project that he manages.

Mr. Hysell has over 40 years of experience in Land Surveying and his thorough understanding of a project, starting with the boundary and topographic survey, through design, and during construction is a valuable benefit to his clients. Throughout his career he has actively participated in surveying, design, project management, and construction oversight of various public and private projects. He is proficient in all aspects of field surveys, office mapping, and survey calculations. Mr. Hysell started his career in surveying in 1983. He specializes in various public works and private development projects overseeing tasks which include office calculations, research, control surveys, GPS surveys, boundary surveys, construction staking, and management of construction projects. commercial, retail, and industrial developments, airport runways and taxiways, airfield parking aprons, highway interchanges, highway reconstruction, highway bridges, prisons, water and wastewater treatment plants, dams, power plants, railroad systems, and several schools. Mr. Hysell’s surveying expertise was developed in the Modesto office of Thompson-Hysell Engineers between 1983 and 2007. Mr. Hysell orchestrated a survey department having up to twelve survey crews and eight office surveyors at one time. Mr. Hysell also acted as the principal in charge of survey geomatics and helped grow the office to a 100-man firm prior to his departure in 2007.

John Mensonides is a Partner with NorthStar Engineering and is our main contact when it comes to Customer relations and new project opportunities.

Mr. Mensonides has over 28 years experience in the Surveying, Civil Engineering, and Land Development Industry. His areas of expertise are related to the strategic partnerships with Clients and Sub-Consultants and their growth. These partnerships encompass various business sectors ranging from municipalities, schools, commercial development, and residential development. Mr. Mensonides prides himself on customer service and always making sure the Client and the project come first. He always has his ear to the ground, making recommendations as to the strategic direction of the company.

Tony de Melo is a Licensed Civil Engineer and is responsible for making sure proficiency is provided in every project that he manages.

Mr. de Melo, with over 20 years of experience working in or relating to Civil Engineering, has completed a wide variety of projects for both public and private entities throughout his career. His experience includes extensive roadway and land development projects. His primary expertise is in project management, engineering, and design of improvement plans and studies for multiple disciplines, which include public, institutional, industrial, commercial, and residential projects. His responsibilities have included initial feasibility, site layouts, entitlements, geometric approvals, all facets of improvement plan preparation, coordinate of approvals, and construction management. Mr. de Melo, as an extension of his Clients, utilizes his strong communication skills and expertise to diligently complete each project in an efficient and timely matter.

John Ellis is responsible for overseeing a team of Managers, Engineers, and Designers making sure that excellence is provided in every project he is involved with. Mr. Ellis dedication and attention to detail enables him to work with his team of professionals to proficiently complete successful projects that everyone can be proud of, on time, and within budget while building strong Client relationships.

Mr. Ellis has over 20 years of experience in the Civil Engineering industry and related fields. He has worked on a variety of projects for both private and public developments; specializing in commercial, industrial, educational, multi-family, and single-family residential projects. His primary responsibilities include, management, staff supervision, training, quality control, value engineering, and coordination to obtain approvals. He has extensive design experience performing grading, earthwork calculations, storm water quality management, wet utility calculations including water, storm drainage and sanitary sewer, probable engineer cost estimating, preparation of Civil Engineering construction documents, project specifications, and construction management. Mr. Ellis expertise has assisted in the successful continued growth of NorthStar Engineering Group, Inc. since he joined the firm in 2004.
